I go to a lot of estate auctions and I am tired of getting ripped off before I can get all the items I bought out to my van. This weekend, I made several bids at one home, was awarded one bedroom and one sewing room as well as lots throughout the house. I’m by myself and I tried my best to get all my items but I was unsuccessful. None of the room doors locked or had keys. I lost several hundred dollars worth of photography equipment from a hidden portion of a closet in the sewing room. I am just so fed up with loosing my stuff before I can get it packed and stowed away.
I’d like to know if there is any device on the market that would help me secure a room. It is doubtful that the auctioneers or the home owners would let me screw a locking device on their doors. I was thinking about some type of adjustible bar that locks at a certain length and preferably, one with a rolled up metal screening than can be pulled out from a top bar and secured to a bottom bar. Anybody know of anything like that? Or anything else I can use to make sure a room I’m packing is off limits while I run stuff out to my van or while I’m packing up other lots I bought? Any tips would be appreciated.

Hire someone from your neighborhood. Set it up beforehand. Tell them what day(s), what you will pay per hr and what will be expected of them and use them accordingly. DO NOT hire someone at the auction.
The money you save by not getting ripped off will more than pay for your helper.:)
