In 1912, the Cook’s Flaked Rice company offered a doll printed on muslin to be sewn and stuffed, to their customers as a premium offer for buying a certain number of flaked rice boxes. The doll was fully designed from head to toe and was promoted as being sized to fit doll clothes of the era.

Recently I came across a doll with china head and hands sewn onto the Miss Flaked Rice body. Does anyone know if this was a common practice? Would the china head and hands detract from the value of the advertising doll, or? Clearly the condition is a factor, I just wondered what others have seen.

Thanks for your input:)
