This piece belonged to my Dad and Mom. They were stationed in Japan for years following WWII, but it doesn’t appear to be Japanese. I have found many items by researching online, but I have spent hours trying to figure this one out to know avail. Any help would be appreciated. The vase stands approx 9 1/2 tall. and is signed on the bottom. See attached photo.

Look through some of the groups/articles here !! Check on that studio pottery site !! Art pottery is always popular !!

Wish I could help but without figuring out that signature,,, I am at a loss !! Have you posted it on some of the speciality sites ?? Let me see if I can find one that might help !!

That was my feeling as well…about the whole piece. The signature almost looks Arabic to me. Thanks again for your help.

Are you sure they got this vase in Japan ?? The signature is not Japanese !! Could be a studio piece by an independent or Just made there by a westerner !! Can`t tell what the signature is but it is not Japanese characters !! Could also be a Japanese potter that used western signature !! It does not have anything distinctive enough to search for a similar vase !! Just a shape on the side !! Can`t even tell what it is supposed to represent !!
