Have a large 4-door(with double glass inserts) oak ice box with a nameplate of Peter A. Vogt of Buffalo N.Y. Any information such as approximate date of mfg or info about the name is appreciated.

I was curious, so I started surfing for your question. I found an “obscure” mention of the name Peter A. Vogt in a patent book. Link below:

On page 1198 look for patent 69,278. He patented an improvement to the refrigerator on September 24, 1867.

For others reading, the additional info below is NOT AN AD.

I, too, have a peculiar ice box. Finally, after a year of surfing, discovered its identity on a web site belonging to “Bargain John’s Antiques.” The ad says you can contact them anytime at 1-(308)324-4576 [CST], or e-mail at: antiques@bargainjohn.com Might be a great source for you–specializes in Victorian furniture.

Hope this helps some. 🙂
