The markings are very blurred. I cannot read Nippon but it is a leaf and does say hand painted. They look so much like other pieces of Nippon I have seen and purchased and I believe the leaf to be the maple leaf. The swirled shape is different for me, but the roses and the raised gold ribbon and dots are spot on.
