[color=#000080]I have a demi cup and saucer set and cannot find the mark any where!!! I have been told by someone on an “expert” site this is Chelsea Derby cira 1770, however have been told by other collectors that it is not. I really need help identifying the backstamp on this piece. The cup is 1 5/8″ tall and the saucer measures 3 3/8″. And if you have any other information on what the stones are or anything else that would be helpful. I’m not even sure the mark is photographed the right way…. Thanks!!

Thanks!!! I don’t know where else to turn to get this mark identified. And no the “expert” was free. I have posted on ebay forums, allexperts.com, here and everyone is stumped. I knew it wasn’t Chelsea Derby, but he was convienced. Any suggestions on where to go to figure out the mark??

Thanks!!

I hope you did not pay a lot to this ‘expert” According to Kovels Chelsea Derby marks they used crossed sword’s or anchor and later crown above swords sometimes a fancy written d in sword or anchor. Also looked in crown Derby marks. No such mark’s. even tried Crown Devon mark’s. No luck. It is a beautiful cup and saucer and the stones resemble Jade which remind me of Japan or Chinese made. Dresden also made jeweled item’s such as this. Sorry I could not help you more.
