I am considering placing a blue “Old Greek” jug up for sale in the near future, and try as I might; I cannot locate any information on the Internet about the blue ones produced by Pratt Fenton.

Last week, weary from the complete lack of success my Internet searches were producing, I contacted a Pratt ware expert in Australia who did, based on my pictures, assure me that it was the real deal and that he had seen them in blue but did not have a blue one in his collection. He did however, have the jug in red and in green. He expressed interest in purchasing my jug to add to his huge collection of Pratt ware to round out the colors the jug was produced in.

But, because of his own interest in the jug, he declined to tell me what I might hope to sell it for. Instead, he asked that I let him know when I post it on eBay or wherever I list it so he could join in the bidding with others he felt sure would be interested in owning it. I respect him for that but it left me with only half my puzzle solved.

Because the blue jugs seem to be scarce, I feel it is worth much more than the matt black ones, but I could be wrong.

I look forward to any information and/or just your thoughts on what it might be worth. Please help if you can.

Are you in the UK ?? If so this jug may sell better than here in the US !! I did not find any that listed for over $175. in blue but they did have a different pattern !! Did not find any “Old Greek” pattern jugs in the blue !! Does not say they don`t exist,, just that no one was trying to sell one !! Here in the US many types of pottery and china have taken a hit and are not doing well !!Unless you are in a hurry to sell I would suggest waiting and do more research on Pratt ware !! If you need to sell now,, price it at $499. and just see where it goes !! I doubt it would sell for more than that amount !!
You can always reduce the price if you get no interest at that amount !!

I hail from Alabama in the USA, not the UK.

I LOVE your idea of pricing it high to see what happens, but I really would like to see if someone in the forum can point me in the direction of anything about the blue jug on the Internet before I do anything.

I appreciate your efforts to help me. I too had seen the other Pratt jugs, but due to the lack of availability of the blue Old Greek’s, I was hoping it might be worth the time I have spent trying to find out something about it before I part with it. 🙂 Maybe someone else in the forum will see my question and shed more light on my mystery. Fingers crossed!!!
