Hello! I am new here and am hoping that someone might be able to help me identify my cookie jar. I know that it was my great grandmother’s and my mother said she had it while she was growing up. There is no makers mark but looks as though there could have been a sticker at one time. It is also a bank. When you drop in a coin it zigzags on the outside of the cookie jar, down to the bottom of the jar.
Thank you so much Martha! My family and I have been trying to figure out where she got it. She had many bank accounts so we thought maybe it was a promotional item from one of her banks? She received so many items from the banks that it was unreal. My mom was adamant that I get it when she was passing away from cancer. So now I just want to find out more about it, seeing as it meant so much to her. I am just so excited to know someone else has seen one! Thank you so much again for your help!
My grandad loved all these little quirky things from what he called “what-nots” to sit on the small shelves he made to the larger items like this coin bank cookie jar and chalk figures he won at Texas State Fair !! If I happen on another one I will message back here but so far these are the only two I know of !!
Thank you so much! I have been searching, on and off, for four years. It makes me so happy to hear someone else has seen one! I have seen similar styles, minus the bank, with Napco cookie jars. None of those were also banks though. I hope to get it figured out one day! Thank you again for your response! It really is great hearing someone else remembers this!
Well,, your jar is the second one I have seen !! My grandfather had one when I was a kid in the 50`s !! His was Christmas themed !! I think these are from the 1940`s or 50`s and most likely made in Japan !! Looking at the bottom of your jar and the possible sticker I would say its the same !! Sticker would have had the company name and country of origin as required by law !! I have no idea who in the family has my grandads !! Problem with searching for another one is what to call it !! I tried coin bank cookie jar and rolling coin bank cookie jar as well as anything else I could think of but nothing came up !!
