Rugs, Carpets, Oriental Rugs, and Other Floor Coverings
The first true carpet was produced in Babylonia about 700 B.C. Carpets might have been made at an even earlier date. A type of Oriental rug was used in ancient Greece and Rome, but wear plus time has destroyed them. The earliest existing rugs date from the 1400s.
