Charles Lock Eastlake was an English architect and author. His book Hints on Household Tastes in Furniture, Upholstery and Other Details influenced design changes in England and the United States. However, the furniture designed in the United States that was considered Eastlake was quite unlike the style recommended by Charles Eastlake.
