For many years, collectors were told that the huge carved wooden hall trees held by three-dimensional bears or the all-wooden carved chairs that resembled branches and leaves were made in the Black Forest region of Bavaria (Germany). Research since the 1970s has proved that the carved wooden furniture and many of the famous carved cuckoo clocks were actually made in Switzerland.
