John Lessell (1871–1926)
John Lessell (sometimes spelled Lassell) moved to the United States from Mettlach, Germany. He worked for at least eight American potteries from 1888 to 1926 and developed several important glazes and lines of pottery. An iridescent gold luster glaze and other metallic glazes are the best known.
