As a trade item I would have expected some branding or label.
What, one asks the clerk for one of “these” or “those”? Or I’ll have one of these springy trap things?
Pictured is a Mouse Trap Trade Sign, made of wood and wrought iron.
I’m thinking it’s a RAT TRAP… rats can grow as big as a cats…. or maybe a MOLE TRAP..??
Too large for a mouse trap, but would work on the same principle for something larger.
Maybe for foxes? To keep out of the hen house. Or for a big old nasty wharf rat. But what about minks chinchillas
Too big to be a mousetrap. So it must be a MOOSETRAP!
I would agree that it is most likely an over-sized advertising display model of a rat/mouse trap, to be hung in a store over the area or shelf where the actual traps are. Remember that at one time, rat and mouse traps were very common items, used by virtually everyone who owned a home, barn, or a business.
Or maybe it’s one of those great German inventions das fingersnappinwhomperdoodle, used to teach German kinder not to snitch cookies out of the pantry. Maybe.
BTW, today, the 8th of July, is my Birthday. Thank you for all of the well wishes, both received and intended.
Mouse trap. Still available new.
Mouse trap. Still available.
A hardware store advertising display for a mouse/rat trap manufacturer.
Animal trap…for wharf rats and larger rodents.
Holy Cow! That’s a big mousetrap!
Merchandising model of trap for rodents, mice and rats. Probably a wall hanger over the product line.
It is a rat trap
This is a rat trap.
It’s a rat trap
It’s obviously a trap, and at such a large size, it must be for a large animal, maybe a big predatory cat? I can’t tell if it’s intended to trap animals as a safety issue, or to provide food. Whatever it was, it’s not a humane way of dispatching an animal.
Depending on where you are in the world this size trap will kill rodents which reside in your area of the world. In our area I would think a racoon or beaver might fall pray to this trap. I would call it a large rodent trap.
I concur that it’s too large for mere mice or even ridiculous rats. Larger rodents, or small brontosaurus, would be logical.
It’s an animal rap for something substantially larger than a mouse or rat
To big to be a rat trap so my guess is possum or racoon.
Because of its size it must be a rat trap. I’ve used one before – it’s like a small bombe going off when the animal triggers the release mechanism.
Look at the dimensions, folks — more than a foot wide and two feet long. It’s a bit oversized for rats and mice though similar in appearance and action. Probably for larger animals, e.g., groundhogs, moles, muskrats, maybe even snakes.
It’s an animal trap. It is made just like a mouse trap but much larger. Maybe for raccoons or possums.
I believe that it is an animal trap as well but, because of it’s size I believe that it is for raccoons or possums.
Rat trap!!!
Rat trap.
Mouse trap, of course!
