Q: A large dinnerware set was given to us in the 1970s by friends who were moving into smaller quarters. The set includes two sizes of plates, cups, saucers, and a number of serving pieces. One cup is marked “Made in Occupied Japan.” I presume these were made sometime after World War I, and I wonder if they have an interesting history. Can you tell me anything about them?
