Q: This “Oil Patch Kid” doll was in my mother’s stuff when she passed away. The doll’s face, hat, and coveralls have “oil dirt” on them. It came with a “Patch Pal” that looks like a large drop of oil, albeit in a fuzzy form. It was in a clear plastic “oil drum” with a certificate, dated “TM Pending 1984,” the new owner was to fill out. The whole thing was still in the tape-sealed plastic drum when I found it. As far as I can tell it has never been played with. I’ve never been able to find one like it in shops or online. Can you give me some advice as to its rarity and value?
