I was lucky enough once to see a no-hitter baseball game (kind of boring, actually, with no base runners), a few World Series games and several amateur hole-in-one contests. But in the spring, a pitcher for the University of North Texas softball team pitched a perfect game. Hope Trautwein pitched to 21 hitters and had 21 strikeouts. There were no hits, no runs, no errors, no walks. She says she didn’t realize what was happening until she finished. A tip to those who watched the game: the balls, gloves, her university T-shirt and any programs or candy bars or other things sold at the game that are marked so they can be identified as from that game will be pricey souvenirs one day. Be sure to get Hope’s autograph. She’s already a star.
