Studio Silversmiths
About 1900, when the Arts and Crafts movement was introduced as a lifestyle, homes needed not only craftsman-style furniture, textiles, and pottery, but also tablewares. A few independent silversmiths opened studio shops and made sets of silver by hand in very limited quantities.

Studio silversmiths developed very individual designs. This 10-inch-wide handmade sterling silver bowl is by the Randahl Shop in Illinois. It has a stylized fruit design that was often seen on the company's silver.
