Important pottery and porcelain has been made in Germany for centuries. Goebel (Hummel), Meissen, Rosenthal, Royal Bayreuth, and Villeroy & Boch, are the most familiar names. Other German factories of note include Goldscheider, Hutschenreuther, KPM (Koniglichen Porzellan-Manufaktur) of Berlin, and Nymphenburg.
