Glass has been made since antiquity, with each new technique, from dip molds in the 1400s to the mechanical press of the 1820s, making it more accessible. Collectors look for glass by its maker, era, or region; the glassmaking method, such as blown or pressed glass; how it was decorated; or even its color. Bottle collectors consider the best bottles to be the oldest, rarest, or the most unusual; not necessarily the finest examples of glassmaking.
