Trench Art

Trench Art

Trench art is a form of folk art made by soldiers. Metal casings from bullets and mortar shells were cut and decorated to form useful objects, such as vases. The term "trench art" originally referred to art made by soldiers in the trenches during World War I, but has since been used to describe art from all conflicts dating back to the 1800s.
