A 17-year-old Kovel family member made an antiquing stop during a quick trip to New England to look at colleges. We asked her to send us a report on what she liked. Fabrics, dishes and some odds and ends caught her eye:
- European grain sacks, 1880-1940, $69 each
- Cigar silks, $2.50 each
- Polyester scarf made in Italy in the 1970s, $6
- 1970s plastic peace-symbol belt, $8
- Wedgwood green leaf plate, $12 (we bought a dozen new ones in the 1950s)
- 50-piece set of Liberty Blue dishes from 1976, $275
- Set of six Hocking yellow floral juice tumblers, $24
- Princess Diana bride doll, fully dressed, $38
- Owner’s manual for a 1941 Chevrolet, $18
She didn’t buy a thing, though, so she clearly does not yet have the family’s “collecting disease.”
