Frederick Cooper Lamp

Q: Can you tell me anything about this tall Frederick Cooper table lamp and what the value would be? Is it okay to replace the cord before trying to sell an item like this?

A: Frederick Cooper opened a studio in Chicago in 1923. He did paintings and sculpture and soon began designing lamps. Frederick Cooper Lamp Company was sold to Leo Gershanov and Benjamin Markle in 1945. Wildwood, a company with headquarters in Rocky Mount, North Carolina, bought the Frederick Cooper brand in 2011. New lamps sell for a few hundred dollars and more. Older used lamps sell for less. The value depends on the material and desirability of the design. If the cord is damaged, you should replace it before trying to sell the lamp.
