A: Danish Modern, a minimalist style with clean, simple lines, was popular in the 1950s and ’60s. Today the style is often called “midcentury modern.” Your chairs were made in Denmark and imported by Selig Furniture Co., one of America’s leading importers of contemporary furniture made in Denmark and other Scandinavian countries. Selig Furniture Co. was founded in Gardner, Mass., in 1931 and moved to Leominster, Mass., in 1939. Selig was bought by Simmons in 1970.
