Boch Freres Vase

Q: Can you tell me who made this vase? It is marked “Made in Belgium, Boch F, La Louvier, Fabrication,” and the rest is unreadable. It is signed “Ch. Catteau.” Is it valuable?

A: Brothers Eugene and Victor Boch and their brother-in-law, Jean-Baptiste Nothomb, established Boch Freres Keramis in La Louviere, Belgium, in 1841. Victor was the director of the factory. Charles Catteau (1880-1966), a famous designer, began working at Boch Freres in 1906. He was head of the design department from 1907 to 1948. Boch Freres is still in business. An 8-inch vase like yours is worth about $150.
