Hawk

Q: I can’t read the name on this sculpture of a hawk. It has a hallmark and a signature. Can you help?

A: The signature on the figure is on the metal tag and reads “G. Armani.” Giuseppe Armani (b.1935) is an Italian sculptor who has been creating sculptures for Florence Sculture d’Arte in Siena, Italy, since 1975. His early works for the studio were done in “Capodimonte style.” Capo-di-Monte porcelain was first made in Naples, Italy, in the mid-1700s and is still being made. The term “Capodimonte” and similar crowned “N” marks have been used by modern makers working in Capo-di-Monte style. You didn’t say the material your figure is made from. It is probably resin, not porcelain, and was a limited edition figurine. Value, $50 to $150.
