A correction from a reader, C.V.L.: There seems to be confusion between the “bird” logo used by Meriden Silver and the Phoenix bird used in some Old Newbury catalogs. While Old Newbury shows a bird in its literature, the company never used the Phoenix bird mark on sterling. I brought this to the attention of an eBay seller and he said, “It was in Kovels.” Note the photos. The center photo shows a true ONC stamping. The bottom photo is the ONC Phoenix shown in catalogs.
