In 1971 the Metropolitan Museum of Art started to use 1-inch metal tags as admission tickets. Tourists visiting New York saved them and soon they became collectibles. This month the Met announced that the tag is being replaced by a paper sticker to save money. Over six million metal tags were ordered each year.
