Tips, Tips, and More Tips from September 2007

A reader who is a watch repairman didn’t like part of a tip in our July newsletter. Here’s his advice: “Do not put oil in a watch that has been accidentally dropped in water. There are parts that do not want oil. The hairspring will stick together because of the oil and cause the watch to gain time.”

Use a feather duster to lightly clean your dolls.

Put felt pads on the bottom corners behind a hanging picture frame to protect the wall and to let air circulate.

When storing dishes, glassware and especially textiles, don’t use old newspapers for wrapping. The ink will come off and may leave permanent stains.
