Hi,
I’m trying to identify the origins of this Alabaster lidded bowl. I’m get the feeling it may be Italian? The head on the bowl is a stylized owl and has 3 faces, it is nicely carved. I am pretty sure that it is white alabaster with some sort of lacquer applied, giving a two tone appearance. Its quite large, 6″ diameter across middle, 7″ to top of owl head and weighs over 4lb.
I would like to know also what age it is, again, its just a feeling but I’m thinking Art Deco period, perhaps earlier.
