Hi folks! I just picked up a couple pieces of scrimshaw at an antiques mall in Virginia yesterday. I was wondering if anyone could help me identify what type of ivory this is… whale, walrus, something else? It was tagged as whale tooth but I have a hard time believing this is a whale tooth because it is rather pointy and only about 4 inches long… but maybe? It is definitely cool to the touch and passed the hot needle test so it’s not plastic. Thanks for any help and/or resources you can provide!
