Greetings! I purchased this carved wood sofa/settee frame in Chicago from an antique store. Can anyone help me identify the manufacturer, or when it might have been made? I’ve included an image that shows previous fabric, although I cannot verify if it was the original fabric. Any idea what wood has been used? I am curious to know what its unrestored value might be. I would like to restore it to reflect its original appearance.

Looks like French Renaissance revival, Victorian period probably turn of the century to about 1920 !! No way to guess who made it,,,furniture was not marked back then and there were many mfrs producing similar designs !! I am thinking that may be the original upholstery !! Its quite faded but looks correct !! You can see the similarities in style in the link !! Hard to tell about the wood from these pics but mahogany would be my guess !! That was a popular wood for the carvings !!

Martha,
Thank you! I appreciate your help. I will do more research based on your suggestions. I’ll post my discoveries! Thank you again!
Yours,
Ann
