I would very much appreciate information on this unusual armchair. I believe it might be European, perhaps of the arts & craft or art nouveau period. It is a very heavy piece of furniture made of pine wood. The decoration has been applied using the same technique seen on some Thonet & J.J. Kohn chairs. Below the seat it has two iron tenants to properly stretch & hold the chair. Many thanks for any information you might provide regarding provenance, style, period and value.
Thonet and Kohn were known for their bentwood furniture !! Can you post a link to the ones saw ?? May I ask what your geographical location is ??
Can you take a close up pic of where the supports protrude through the back ?? Need to see how they are secured !! Without doing any research my guess would be that it was either made in Germany or that area and redecorated by an individual craftsman !! May or may not have made the entire chair !! My thought is that this chair was simply re-decorated as in a folk art style !!
