I have a C.M. Bott curio cabinet that I got from my mother’s estate and am looking for a key to open it. I was transporting this plus other furniture from CT to CO and the complete U-Haul trailer the key and shelves were in were stolen. Fortunately I had the cabinet lying down in the back of the truck under a locked canopy so it wasn’t taken. I’ve been looking without luck so far for a key to open the cabinet so I can have new shelves made. So far in the area I live I haven’t found a locksmith who can open without force which would damage the wood.
Yes, it is a hollow skeleton key about 2 3/4″ to 3″ long from end to end that is needed. Our grandfather clock key will fit over the interior post of the lock but won’t turn the lock. That at least gave us an idea of the length and diameter of key needed. The curio handle and lock are all one unit. It isn’t like most cabinets that just have a key hole and the key is used to open the door after unlocking. I tried to update pictures to show the actual lock/handle. I did find a couple of skeleton keys at an antique store the right length and diameter, but they didn’t work.
