Well, that’s as good as any guess I’ve made! Seems too fancy and to “delicate” to be “utility”. It does hold my weight, but still, I think it was meant for holding something lighter than that!

Have yet to figure out what the maker intended these to be !! Mid century in what was then called Early American or Colonial !! Having been there and done that I can say it would have been much more comfortable than what I used as a milking stool !! But that was never mentioned !! So toss a cushion in it and rest your feet or your butt !! Will work both ways !! I have always called it a utility bench !!
