Would anyone be able to help me on this secretary cabinet I purchased? The front drops down like a secretary desk. From my own research it is Napoleonic Egyptian Revival. But I don’t know if it really is old or a reproduction. I would like to know the age, the value and the type of wood if possible. Thank you.
Well,, the quality is not that of an older piece !! It is mahogany but since you had the top covered and couldn`t see the top or the edge I am going to guess that its veneered !! Castings are very poor and hardware is reproduction !! This piece is likely about 1940 to 1960 !! Sorry it couldn`t be better news !!
