Can anyone tell me about this hurricane lamp (age, materials, artist, if it’s oil converted to electric)? It may be hand painted and I was told it was very rare because it is hand painted and signed. They said it could be well over $1K if from famous artist. Any help much appreciated.

Here’s the other mystery items that I can’t find info out about..,

Hi SophieMarie! Thanks so much for your kind words. I really tried to take nice pics of my stuff (which took me 2 days of solid going through my boxes, staging, photographing, measuring, researching and listing…lol). It was quite a tedious process to say the least. Now I have to figure out keywords apparantely to drive traffic to my eBay store. If eBay doesn’t work for me I can open up a booth out here at an antique mall, but they charge $350/mo plus 10% commission and 3% extra for credit card payments. I just felt that I would have better visibility on eBay to the masses…but that hasn’t happened as of yet. Consignment is an option. But it is further down my list of options because they take so much. I do have a few crystal bowls I have not listed because I can’t seem to find it on the internet, as well as some old teacup sets that I’ve had a few people fill me in with some (not all) details. And a painting on silk that I can’t seem to find info out about the artist. So those are still a mystery. I posted items i’m still unsure about in this post. I try to do this in my spare time, when I get it. Ha. I would love to just antique full-time. I have a real knack for finding things and love the hunt. But I’ve been told I can’t buy anything else until I sell some of the many boxes I have in my attic…boo. Lol. Thanks again for your feedback and trying to help me. I appreciate all the help I can get!!! 🙂

Hi,
I’ve been meaning to get back with you on your Ebay post. You did a lot of staging with the blue fabric-well done. And, this is just my opinion and do not mean to offend you. Your first picture or gallery pic is sometimes the only picture people look at and with that being said…I don’t think you first shot is your best. The picture that caught my eye was your second pic (the one on the floor with the light on). It really showed off the little girl in the picture. I know it is without the blue fabric, but I’d use that one OR take the same picture with the blue fabric.

Also, I know it won’t be cheap to ship the lamp and you are offering free shipping. And, that’s ok but it will limit your profits. So, if the item doesn’t sell on Ebay or you decide to take it off…my question is: Do you have an antique/consignment shop near you? If you do, then you might want to consider putting it on consignment there. Most consignment shops allow you to consign items for about 60 days. However; they usually take 50% of the selling price. So keep that in mind when pricing the item. The positive side of an antique shop is that they can ask higher prices and people can view the item in person.

Anyway, best of luck with whatever you decide to do and visit us again!
