I am new to collecting antiques and I recently picked up a small wooden box with a leather strap and a lock that has a sticker on the inside that reads The William Bal company N.Y. and N.J.. I know the William Bal Company made large traveling chests and various containers for the military but I can not find anything like my box. I think that it was used in the military because it has a serial number printed in to the leather on its lid that reads “E3584” but i’m not sure.
