Hi! Hope you can guide me in the right direction. I stumbled upon a China hutch & base in a used furniture store. I loved the lines of the hutch & the beautiful hickory wood. It was in excellent condition & priced quite nicely. I noticed it had some paperwork in a drawer but didn’t recognize the company name. The paperwork was correspondence from 2005 with the company. RomWeber that included a 1967 MSRP list with pictured pieces marked. The pieces are a #580 China Base priced at $756 and #580 China Hutch with glass doors at $1624.
I am completely unfamiliar with vintage/antique furniture research. I have been able to get info on the company and can see that their Viking oak pieces are quite popular. I am coming up against a roadblock in trying to get info on the Prado Collection or their Hickory pieces.
I must pick the item up by this weekend and had planned to have my hubby load it in his truck. If it’s valuable, that may not be the best idea. It is quite a drive through the city. Also, I had planned to paint the base- the 1960’s carving could stand to be toned down a tad. 🙂 Really would love to be able to get more info on this piece before I ruin it- and because it was obviously treasured by someone previously! I have a bedroom set consisting of two head boards, nine drawer dresser, three drawer hutch, vanity with large mirror and matching chair. The stamp reads “La Coquette by Morris of California”. Is there any value in this set? I have searched high and low and am not coming to any clear conclusion.
Thank you
Being new to the forum, I mistakenly posted this to another’s thread.
I found this at a thrift store and thought it interesting enough to buy for $15…I’m thinking it’s a music stand for instructor and student to use, but I’m uncertain and don’t even know if it is an antique or just made to look like one.
I’d appreciate any information you might be able to give…
