I have an antique Lane cedar hope chest. It’s serial number is 031728 so I understand that it was made in 1913. The pattern number is NO48787 and was made in Altavita, Virginia. I cannot find any information on this chest, nor can I find any others near this manufacturing date. My grandmother was the original owner.
As you can see by the photographs, the outer lid is quite scuffed and scratched, but everything is original. No alterations or repairs have been attempted or made. All of the chest’s flaws are revealed in these photographs. The interior of the chest is immaculate!

I found some from the same year for sale !! Thats about the only way you will find them online !! You can write to Lane Furniture for any additional info !! The other number that you called a style number is really a finish number !! You can find others even into the 50`s with that number !! Other numbers tell if its a mahogany, fruit wood, or walnut finish !!
