I have identified one of my glass jugs by its markings as produced by the Owens Illinois Glass Company in 1935 at their #2 facility in WV. However, I cannot seem to find any record or picture of a similar bottle with the mold #10 (which appears under the Owens logo on the bottom of the bottle).
It is a half gallon (it reads half gallon on one side of the bottle), features a finger hole, and it clear with a raised design all around, except for two plain, rectangular sections that clearly were intended for labels.
Does anyone know what this was used for? My first guess was wine…..or maybe milk?
Also, is this a rare or common find?
Thanks!
That is so true! It does look an awful lot like a pineapple, doesn’t it? Great thought.
