Can anyone tell me anything about the ovenproof dish I received from my mother when she was cleaning out her cupboards? She said she’s never used the dish; it’s in perfect condition. She says she doesn’t think my grandmother used it either. I’m curious because my ancestors weren’t Swedish and she knows nothing about it. The box is original and dusty. There is a picture of other pieces in this line of ovenware on the box top. The dish seems so fragile it’s hard to believe it can be used for baking. On the box label it says Sial Reijmyre, Sweden, $.5, Handgjord – Ugnseldfast Form, Rymd 150 cl, diam. 180 mm. The next words are in English: Handmade – Ovenproof dish, Cap. 52 oz, diam. 7″.

Thank you! My grandmother was actually English and my grandpa Norwegian. My grandpa had a brother who was in the service, but was stationed in Kodiak, Alaska. How old do you think the dish is? I didn’t think, but it could possibly have been a gift. Or possibly handed down to her from another relative. The Germans were on my father’s side. 🙂
