[color=#000000]The former owner of these lovely 6.5″ tall vases claims these are Yellow Vaseline Vases. At the time, I did not have my black light with me and probably should not have bought them. But that’s beside the point.

Can Vaseline ever loose it’s opalescent value? Does anyone know who and what time period a company that made look-alike Vaseline? One vase weight 8.0 oz, and are 3/16 of an inch thick. The design reminds me of pressed cut glass. Any help will be appreciated. Judy of NookCove

If you will go down to the pattern called Champion,,It is also known as Fan and Crossbars and other names depending on who made it !! Now I am no expert on pattern glass but as I read this,, the same or similar pattern was made by three different mfrs in three different years !!~ What I do not know is if there is a link between the three mfrs or if there are differences in the pattern !! Hubby had cataract surgery today so not much time to look !! Will dig more tomorrow after I get out of garden !!

No problem at all !! Glad to help as much as possible !! Will check back tomorrow for pics !!
Just looked at the link you gave !! Not entirely sure that is the same as yours !! The top rim seems to be different in the linkand the fans on the link seem to stop short of the rim,,yours looks like it extends to the top edge !! May be the pics though,, will look more tomorrow !!

No problem, I did do some research but was more overloaded with info that peaked my interest. Thank you for clarifying that the vases don’t appear to be slag glass. I will attempt to take better pictures of the pattern with another lens today and perhaps you can see the pattern better.

You are very helpful and much appreciated by me.

I apologize,, that would be “Early American Pattern Glass” or some say Early American Pressed Glass !! Yours are sure not a later glassware and I do not think a slagware of any kind !! They appear to be a pale yellow which is a pretty rare color in some patterns !! Pre-1900 would be right datewise !! Check the pattern you found in pale yellow color,, you might also check pineapple and fan by other mfrs in the pale yellow !!. Could not see the pattern well in the pics !! Sometimes patterns can look very close to those by other mfrs !!

thank you for your reply. I did test with the black light and nothing as I suspected. As you can tell I’m not familiar with glassware so I took the vases to the local antique dealer who thought it to be some kind of slagware.

There are no manufacturing marks on the bottom of the stems so I am thinking it could be a later manufactured glassware.

It makes sense that it is some sort of slagware because the colorations is uneven and is in the glass itself..

Now for my ignorance on the subject–what is EAPG? Haven’t researched the acronym yet but will.

Again, Many thanks for your reply.

Judy

PS: I found it on http://www.patternglass.com/Store/Misc/index.htm but it is clear. Same pattern Champion aka Fans with Crossbars McKee Glass co. ca. 1890s
