Fairy Lamp? Candle holder? What is it?
This has been in the family for over 100 years. It is about six inches high and five inches in diameter and has a ring attached to the base for insertion of index finger to carry it. The cover comes off and a votive candle can be placed on it. A vent hole at the top allows the smoke to escape. It has been called a “fairy light,” but nothing I’ve seen on Google comes even close to this. It has no markings for date or manufacturer. Can you identify it? It is a fairy lamp. Here’s a link to a similar one. http://www.liveauctioneers.com/item/815447
Here’s another one that is a similar style, but it hangs: http://www.fairy-lamp.com/Fairylamp/FairyLampUndoc141160.html
Try searching for “antique jeweled fairy lamp” or “antique faceted fairy lamp”, and you may be able to find more information about them.
Hope this helps!
