I am looking to purchase a piece of jewelry with a Mexican silver mark. It is not mine, so I cannot provide a photo. I will try to describe the marks.
There is the eagle, not sure if it is the delineated or outline as it is not very clear. It appears to have the number 7 in it. May be a 1, again it is not clear, but it looks more like a 7 to me. From what I have found online, 7 is Avanti. But it also is stamped in a circle Taxco Heche En Mexico, with the letters SAI inside. I can’t find what SAI stands for, but none of the Avanti marks seem to have that associated with it.
If anyone can shed some light on this I would appreciate it. I have looked in vain online.

Call the assay office and ask !!

This should be the last to the pictures. I have figured out the number in the eagle is 3for Taxco. It says 925, made in Mexico (in Spanish) and has the letters SAI. Anyone know who SAI might be? I know they usually just used initials. Any guesses?

Will look forward to seeing it !!

Are you looking at the pin on etsy ?? The eagle system was from 1948 to 1979 but it was barely regulated !! It is an assay stamp and not a Makers mark as such !!
The only thing this guarantees is that it was made in Taxco, Mexico and is sterling 925 !! The S in the letters more than likely indicates it was made at the Spratling silver workshop !! Couldn`t tell for sure what the other letters are !!
