I have to admit I am stumnped. A friend asked me to look at her pins and see if she had anything of value, since I have several books on vintage jewelry and search the Internet a lot. These pins have me stumped. At first I thought Victorian Revival of the 70’s, but then looked at the back and they looked much older than that. Plus these were this woman’s mother’s (and my friend is in her 80’s). I also cannot figure out the purpose of the box clasps at the top and bottom. They measure 1 1/4″ x 1″ and were obviously be the same person/manufacturer. The cameo is translucent and there seems to be an infiltration of a green substance (old glue?) Help? Would the clasps be of the size to hold ends of a ribbon, therefore worn around the neck.
