I may be able to give you a little imput. I have a kitchen collectable book that goes back 300 years. Your spit is called a Bird roaster. Any type of small bird they could get their hands on. It is very difficult to date or where they were made. Most come from the new England states or from England. definately from late 18 and 19 century. Made by blacksmiths for family wishes as to how many hooks. Used over open pit or hook used for hanging up in smokehouse. And some are adjustable and have like tripod legs. The author said he has’nt seen any since the 1970ties when a few were showing up. I can just see a camper wanting this to showing off and bragging rights.
