I just bought an antique fire extinguisher at the flea market and was having some problems removing the top so that I can clean It up. I was hoping someone could give me some insight and removing it. It seems to be stuck and will not unscrew. A little bit of background for it, it is a brass Dayton Fyr-fyter extinguisher from Dayton, Ohio.

Where does one go to check if it’s truly empty? If it needs emptying, to whom do I take it?

Are you sure it is empty ?? Don`t think they can be opened if pressurized !!
