I have had a look at my 21in “Scottish dressed” (I am in Scotland) Simon & Halbig (I thought) doll and find underneath the Scottish clothes what must be original clothes, but more particulary with the bonnet removed have looked at the marks impressed on back of head/neck – and find that there are 3 rows of mark. Topmost is “Gebruder Heubach Germany”, below that their “sunburst mark” and below that “S 71/2 H”. The S H was well known being the visible mark even with bonnet on – but I can find no information about dolls bearing the mark also of Gebruder Heubach as well as Simon & Halbig. I would really like to find the name and date. Any suggestions welcome.
According to what I found Simon and Halbig made the doll heads for Heubach as well as other doll makers !! They were well known for their porcelain doll heads !! The S&H can be found on other dolls as well as the makers name !! So Heubach is the actual maker if your doll !!
