OK,, The Carrom company who made board games was a division of Affiliated Hospital products LTD !! At some point there was a dispute over the copyright infringement of the name which Affiliated was not supposed to use or the word Carom (one R) !! They came to an agreement that it could be used on some things but not others.!! Carrom Co. did not make hospital items at all,,only board games and childrens sports toys so when your cabinet was labeled it was totally against the copyright laws !! Even with the lines under the label it was illegal so Carrom sued Affiliated Hospital Products for infringement !! So basically you have a cabinet, probably used in the offices of a hospital or clinic that was mis-labeled !!
Don`t think medical office,, those would be metal !! You can not sterilize/clean wood !! It reminds me of the cabinets used with the Gramaphone/Victor victrola with the large horn !! Some cabinets like this were also known as Radio Cabinets.!! Before television the radio took a special place in the home !! There were very few pieces that were designated for those uses by the mfr. !! Usually they were just ocassional pieces that were used by the owner for the radio or tabletop victrola !! Sometimes if used for those,,you can see discoloration of the wood around the outside edge,, slightly darker in the center !! May have to look across the top at an angle to see the difference in color !!
Martha, I cannot read it either. I have asked the owner if he can tell us. The more I look at the Chest,it looks like it could have been on used in a doctor’s office. Here is the reply I received when I asked about the doors and shelf.
