I have a pair of antique pewter candlesticks equipped with a 5″ spike (pricket) to hold the candle. The candle receptacle is approximately 3-1/2″ in diameter at the base of the spike. The spike is 5″ tall and tapers to a diameter of 1/2″ at the bottom. The sticks were purchased at an antiques fair together with candles with the appropriate recess to accommodate the spike. I need new candles and have been totally unsuccessful in finding any with the recess. I am looking for pillar candles between 9 and 12″ tall and with a diameter between 3 and 4″ and would be grateful for any leads/advice.
P.S. I have tried drilling out the bottom of a standard pillar candle but have been unable to accomplish this cleanly because of the wick.
Well,, if it were me I would buy a candle mold of appropriate size and have a woodworker make the spike with a T bar at top and just make my own candles !! But you might check at places that specialize in historical/ antique items,, some of the gift shops at places like Historical Williamsburg !! Don`t guess you thought to ask when the others were purchased what company or who made them ?? Did they have a wrapper with a label ??
If there is an Amish community close to you check with them !! I think they have hand made candles and may know the source for yours !!
